College Counseling

As a college preparatory school, The First Academy is committed to helping students gain entrance into the best colleges fit for a student's unique college, career and life goals. A College Preparatory Review (CPR) was instituted to help students and families prepare for graduation. The CPR process begins with a counselors’ meeting with eighth grade students to help them understand the nuances of Upper School life as they look forward to the ninth grade year.

Counselors provide grade-level opportunities for families to look at where their student currently stands in their college planning process and to make informed decisions about the coming years.

CPR also provides testing for 9th and 10th grade students (PLAN), and for 11th grade students (PSAT, SAT, ACT). Our goal is to prepare families and students with the information necessary to effectively prepare for these tests. The CPR process schedules grade-level group informational meetings as well as individual family meetings to map out specific goals and objectives.

The class of 2008, with the assistance of College Counselors, earned $3.2 million in scholarships related to academic excellence, leadership potential, and athletic achievement. As much as we value our academic successes, our goal is to help students choose character before career and wisdom beyond scholarship.
