Middle School Clubs and Activities
Middle School students have many opportunities to participate in activities that complement or contrast their academic pursuits. In addition to participating in various performing arts and athletic arenas, students may also choose to become active in student government and other membership-based groups.
Student Government Association
- The Student Government Association, (SGA), is a student-led, student-run organization.
- Classmates elect their officers each year.
- SGA officers include a president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, and chaplain. These students preside over and coordinate the entire SGA.
- The SGA functions to organize and raise funds for activities in Middle School.
- The elected students strive to represent their classmates in scheduled meetings and also act as a liaison between the student body and the school administration.
- In grades 6-8, Homeroom Representatives are elected and become the liaison between the organization and the students.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes
Any student can join this student service organization, whether they participate in sporting activities or not. Here is how FCA describes its organization:
Since 1954, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has been challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high and youth levels to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus Christ. FCA is the largest Christian sports organization in America. FCA focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ.
National Junior Honor Society
Middle School students who qualify academically may join the National Junior Honor Society.
Nomination Requirements
- To be eligible for membership in The First Academy Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society the candidate must be in grades seven or eight. Students must be in good standing and have been enrolled at TFA for three consecutive semesters.Transfer students may apply upon admissions.
- Students do not apply for membership; rather, membership is granted only to students selected by the Faculty Council based on scholastic merit, proven leadership, a record of service, upstanding character, and approval of the faculty.
- Students qualify academically with a 3.5 weighted cumulative grade point average or above, but the other three qualities of leadership, service, and character determine selection.
- Students who qualify academically will receive an application form to be completed. This form allows students to document leadership and service so that the Faculty Council can judge their eligibility for nomination; it, by itself, does not guarantee admission into the NJHS.
- In order to retain eligibility and remain in good standing new members must remain actively involved by participating in school and community projects, attending meetings and ceremonies, and maintaining academic requirements and a good discipline record.
Parents will be formally invited to attend the induction ceremony. Students must participate in the induction ceremony to be considered members.
