First Grade

First grade at The First Academy is wiggly teeth, boundless energy, joy-filled hearts, inquisitive minds, and question upon question!

"Reading, 'Riting, and 'Rithmetic" are just the start of the subjects covered in the first grade curriculum. Along with these core basics, the first grade team works extensively on Phonics, Spelling, Science, Bible, Handwriting and Social Studies. We want to establish a love for Jesus, a love for learning, and a love for reading in each and every child.

The focus is on the mastery of each skill, with a goal to build a solid foundation in each subject. Throughout the curriculum the team uses hands-on experiences in math and reading centers, and schedules plenty of independent work. Each month is planned with wonderful books and terrific activities designed to draw the children into the world of literature and reading. First grade is filled with fun, friends and fabulous amounts of learning.
