Some might suggest that it was a bad parenting tactic. However, I believed in the content of the presentation so much that I paid my children to listen to the podcasts and write a one-page summary.
The teacher is Andy Stanley and his series is entitled “Ask It.” Since January, I have listened to the material three times and I still feel like I have more to learn. Stanley challenges his audience to ask this simple question, “In light of my past experience, my current circumstances, and my future hopes and dreams, what is the wise thing for me to do?” In six short lessons, he unpacks this question with astonishing insight.
During the course of my lifetime I have listened to nearly 5,000 sermons and teachings on a wide variety of important topics. Without reservation, I can say this series is in my “top ten” most powerful and practical messages I’ve ever heard. Those who listen to “Ask It” will be wiser parents, better spouses, and more dedicated Christ-followers.
Here’s my challenge to you. Listen to the first lesson. If it’s a waste of your time, send me a loving rebuke by email. If you find it compelling, promise me you’ll finish the series and invite others to do the same. You can access the free content through iTunes or click on the link below. This is the best resource I know of to help each one of us (young and old) Grow in Wisdom this school year.
