Tuesday at the Little League World Series, there was a teachable moment. It was both heart-warming and refreshing to see young athletes and coaches practice true sportsmanship. All too often, the nightly news highlights ranting coaches, out-of-control parents, or misbehaving players.
This week, on the campus of The First Academy, there was also a teachable moment. When some of our staff learned that our opponent for the Friday night football game was struggling financially, they went into action. They called Agape Christian School and told them that we were going to donate all the gate proceeds at this week’s game to help support their football program. I’m proud to work with coaches and staff who put our mission, service before self, into practice.
Take time to share both of these stories with your children at home. You can watch the Little League story in the video above. And then, plan to attend our first home football game of the season and use this teachable moment to underscore the power of living a life marked by servant leadership.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve your family. I look forward to seeing you on Friday night.
