Hannah Rose Cash: Senior Spotlight

At what grade level did you start at The First Academy?

I began attending TFA in kindergarten, so I am a 13-year senior!

What were the reasons you or your parents chose The First Academy?

My parents chose TFA because they wanted me to have an education that was academically strong and would prepare me well for college, but one that was also centered around Christ and His word.

Are you involved in extracurricular activities? If so, what are they and have you received awards in these activities? (These can be affiliated with TFA or outside of school)

I have been involved in theatre at TFA since 3rd grade and now have the privilege of serving as thespian troupe 5165’s president. I have also competed in the district and state thespian competitions and received both excellent and superior scores. I am tremendously blessed to have been a part of so many amazing casts and such a wonderful troupe! In addition, I can also be found leading a small group and helping with the youth ministry at First Presbyterian Church of Orlando.

Which colleges have you applied to and which ones have you been accepted to thus far? (Please include if you have made a decision to attend a certain college next year)

I been accepted to Samford University, Belmont University, Auburn University, University of Georgia, and the University of Florida. I still have yet to hear from the University of Virginia, but I know that whatever college I attend, it will be exactly where the Lord wants me.

What do you plan to study in college and what are your long-term career goals?

I plan to study psychology wherever I choose to attend college, in pursuit of a career in Christian counseling. I have always had a heart for listening to others and I hope to use my role in the field of mental health to glorify Him.

Have you received any college scholarships? If so, which ones? (Or, which ones are your currently nominated for)

I have been offered several academic and leadership scholarships from some of the universities that I have been accepted to and expect to receive a Bright Futures scholarship if I choose to attend a university in Florida.

Who is/are your favorite TFA teacher(s), and why? (Teachers can be K4-12)

Oh my this is a tough question! I have had so many incredible teachers over the years, and I am so thankful for all of them. But since I have to choose, I would say that my favorite teacher is Mrs. Combs who now teaches 4th grade. I had the blessing of having Mrs. Combs twice, in both 3rd and 7th grade. I loved having Mrs. Combs as my 3rd-grade teacher, but when I got to have her again in 7th grade I was so excited. She is engaging, funny, and passionate about teaching and her students. She made me fall more deeply in love with English and writing, and with Jesus. 5 years later, I still remember things that I learned in her classroom and continue to apply them today. I am so thankful for the way that she pushed and encouraged me to grow, not only as a student and a leader but in character and my relationship with Jesus.

How has TFA made a difference in, or impacted your life?

TFA has impacted my life in so many ways. But I am most thankful that my time at TFA has pointed me to Christ. Being able to learn academically from a Christian perspective has given me so much insight into God’s role in all things. The Lord has used my experience at TFA to draw me closer to him and to grow me in my faith.

How do you feel that The First Academy has prepared you for life after graduation?

TFA has prepared me in a variety of ways whether that be academically, socially, or spiritually. It has given me the opportunities to learn and grow both inside and outside of the classroom. I feel ready for whatever the Lord has in store for me in this next chapter because I know that He has used all of my time at TFA to prepare me and my heart.

What does it mean to you to be a The First Academy alumni?

I cannot believe that there are only a few short months until graduation! This year has flown by! For me, being a TFA alumna is looking back on all that the Lord has done in my life during the past 13 years. I am thankful for every second of my time as a TFA student because I know that the Lord used it all to shape me into the person I am today.
