This week in chapel, we will be kicking off our Haiti Shoebox Drive with a presentation and a video. This is a great mission project for Lower School because the students can be an active participant. It is great to see the shoeboxes start to stack up in the classrooms. Our goal is to have 500 shoeboxes in Lower School. Next week, we will be praying for the country of Haiti each day and the teachers will do a special lesson with the students about the shoebox drive. The deadline for shoeboxes in Lower School will be November 13th. Be on the lookout for a letter and flyer coming home next week with more information.

KPrep Community Helpers
Last week was Community Helpers Week in KPrep. There were a variety of different activities incorporating the different community helpers. Mrs. Williams had Clara Koeneke (Tabitha’s mom) come to the classroom and talk to us about her job as Universal Studios Show Coordinator as well as Dr. Figueroa (Daniel’s mom) who talked about her job as a doctor. The classrooms were transformed into a small community. The students had fun making their list for the Grocery Store, sorting mail at the Post Office and selling/buying flowers at the Flower Shop. The waiting list at the Doctor’s Office was a long one but the KPrep did their best to keep the patients moving in and out.

Tiny Chapel
TK and Kindergarten took advantage of the beautiful weather on Thursday, 10/15, and had a chapel service together at the Alumni Commons. This month we are studying the character trait of determination. The students learned how many of the Bible characters such as Noah, Abraham and Moses showed determination. During this service, they heard the story The Little Engine That Could, which helped the children see that determination is a character trait that will help them to grow in wisdom!
