A NOTE FROM MRS. JACKSON
The principal’s office has an open-door policy (at least most of the time). My goal is for the students at TFA to feel comfortable stopping by for any reason. I was blessed this week to have a couple of different groups visit my office and bring a smile to my face. At the beginning of the week, the kindergarteners searched all over for their different classroom mascots. What joy it was to have all those smiling faces march through. Unfortunately, they did not have any luck finding the bear, monkey, or frog.
Later in the week, a group of 6th graders stopped by to share their Scientific Method rap with me. I was in the 6th grade Science classroom earlier this week when Mrs. Fitzgerald was explaining that each group was tasked with creating a song or rap about the Scientific Method. These girls were so proud to share their creative handiwork and I loved it!! There is nothing better than seeing students excited about learning.
A very heartfelt “Thank you” to Mr. McKey, Coach Sagraves, Mr. Laegeler and Coach Grove for greeting parents at the Lower School Curriculum Night. It’s a blessing to serve with you! Thank you to all of the parents who joined us for Lower School Curriculum Night on Tuesday. Our hope is that you enjoyed your time in the classrooms and found it informational.
NEW THIS WEEK
Parent Volunteer Opportunities
Calling all parents! Are you looking for a volunteer opportunity at school? Do you want the chance to meet other TFA parents? Please plan to join us for the Parent Association Volunteer Informational Breakfast on August 26th at 8:15AM at the First Baptist Orlando Student Center. Join other parents for breakfast, fellowship and to learn about the volunteer opportunities available this year at TFA.
Additionally, the first official meeting of the Parent Association will take place on Tuesday, September 1st at 8:15AM in the Student Center. For this meeting, all divisions of the Parent Association will meet together before breaking out for separate divisional meetings. The morning will conclude with light refreshments and a time for fellowship. The mission of the Parent Association at The First Academy is to recruit, train and motivate volunteers who are dedicated to assisting The First Academy in the fulfillment of its mission and vision. All parent volunteers must submit a background check before being allowed to volunteer. Please click HERE to submit your information for a free background check.
Uniform Resale (August 26th)
A Uniform Resale will be held on Wednesday, August 26th directly after the Parent Association Volunteer Informational Breakfast. This is the perfect opportunity for you to purchase gently used uniforms for your child(ren).
6th Grade Leadership Retreat
On Friday, August 27th, the 6th graders will take part in an on-campus leadership retreat. Students will have the opportunity to get to know each other as a class. We will have different breakout sessions designed to build community. We are excited to have John Evans (FCA Director from UCF) as our guest speaker. It should be a fun day for the students.

Lower School Carline and Parking Lot
Please use your yellow or blue car tag when picking up students through carline.
Additional car tags may be requested by contacting Kerry Ann Cole at firstname.lastname@example.org.
During afternoon dismissal, the front portion of the Lower School parking lot will be closed to all traffic. Parking will be available for parents in the back portion of the Lower School parking lot.
For the safety of our students, please refrain from cell phone usage while in the carline or parking lot.
Change in Dismissal
As we have said many times before, the safety of TFA students is of the highest priority. If you need to make a change to the way your child is going home, please email email@example.com or the classroom teacher and include detailed information about who is picking up your child. We will also require anyone unfamiliar picking up to show a driver’s license for verification. Again, we have these procedures in place to ensure our students are safe and secure while in our care.
Please take a few moments to verify and update your contact, emergency, and pickup information in Ren Web. This is our primary method of regular communication so it is important that we have accurate information on each student.
Fine Arts Network (FAN)
TFA Family, now is the best time to join the Fine Arts Network (FAN) parent organization designed to support the fine arts at TFA. Consider buying Ad space in theatre playbills or concert programs this year; these are a great way to advertise your company or create “Break a Leg” messages for your child.
Band parents, who attend home games during marching band season, will love our new package designed with them in mind. Please take time to review the new FAN patron levels and choose the best one for your family. These are exciting days in the Fine Arts Department at The First Academy. We hope to see you at student performances and art exhibits this year. Let’s see our students perform, improve, grow, and excel this year. Go to https://thefirstacademy.org/arts/fine-arts/ to learn more.
Thank you for your support!
The FAN Board
It’s that time of year again to drop off medications in the clinic. Just a reminder that medications must be dropped off by parents and the proper paperwork must be completed before medication may be dispensed to a child. All clinic forms are available under Parent Resources on Ren Web.
Parent Volunteer Background Check
If you are a new parent and would like to volunteer in your child(ren)’s classroom(s) or chaperone field trips please click HERE to submit your information for a free background check. Approvals take a few weeks so plan ahead!
