“Praying Circles Around Your Children” By Mark Batterson
Parents, I have repeated last week’s edition of my, “Praying Circles Around Your Children” communication in the event that you did not have a chance to read it. You should have received a copy of this book from one of your Lower School children. In the coming weeks I will post a review of a chapter’s highlights. My hope is that you will partner with us this year as we pray “circles” around our children for both their present and their future.
Chapter 1 – The Greatest Legacy You Can Leave
I have to echo Batterson’s comment about our children being moving targets. Having raised five children, my husband and I often commented throughout the years as to our desire for an owner’s manual to help us know what to do. What we found was that as soon we thought we had something figured out, they entered a new faze or another child was added to our family changing the mix or . . . or . . . or . . What we found was that we couldn’t do this on our own. I love Batterson’s statement “Make sure the heavenly Father hears about your kids daily!” What my husband and I found was that as mom and dad we can mess them up at any given moment – it is God who can make the difference in our children’s today and tomorrow.
What prayer legacy are you leaving your children? When we are gone will our children say of us we were praying parents after God’s heart? Will they have memories of seeing and hearing us pray? When we stand before Jesus will he say He knows our voice because He heard it often? Read chapter one and discover the greatest legacy you can leave.
MOMS AND DADS – Please, Please, Please, Please…
Please do not use the parking lot as a drive thru drop-off and/or pick-up lane. If you wish to use the parking lot rather than the loop drive thru lanes you must park your car in an appropriate space and walk your child(ren) to the cross walk at drop-off or walk to the sidewalk, let the teacher know you are taking your child(ren) and walk together back to your car. Please do not ask your child(ren) to walk through the parking lot unsupervised to meet you at your car. This is not a safe situation to put your child(ren) in. Let’s work together to keep all our children safe. Your help is greatly appreciated.
LOWER SCHOOL SEE YOU AT THE POLE
Please join your child in prayer on Wednesday, September 24th as we pray at the Alumni Commons from 7:45AM-8:00AM. This will be a special time for LS students and families lead by our 6th graders.
