Lower School Newsletter, Week of April 7

Parents, please take a moment to mark your calendars. The following are important dates that you do not want to miss:

The following is a list of chapel dates and times for April:

Obedience is our last biblical character trait for this school year.   The definition we will be using when we discuss obedience is “trusting those who lead you by doing what you’re asked to do.”   This is something that we talk about every year, all year long but it is a good time to really focus on what it means to be obedient at home, at school, and in the world.  Our focus verse is Hebrews 13:17.  I am looking forward to our last few chapels to see what God is going to teach us!

Hebrews 13-17

The second thing that I would like to talk with you about is the standardized testing that is coming up next week in K-6th grade.    The students will be testing first thing in the morning.   Most testing should be completed by 10:00AM each day.   Our students have learned so much this year and we can’t wait to see how well they demonstrate their knowledge.    The best thing that you can do to help your child be prepared is to make sure that he/she gets good rest each night, eats a healthy breakfast each morning, and arrives to school on time.  We will take care of the rest!

Mrs. Combs’ 4th Grade Chapel Presentation

Mrs. Combs’ 4th graders presented a lesson on conviction this morning in chapel. They ran a “live broadcast” from a “local news station” about students doing the right thing even when it was hard. Each time a student was “tempted” to do the wrong thing, they remembered how Jesus was tempted by Satan, stayed strong using God’s words, and said NO WAY” to Satan each time. The entire chapel helped the News Team support the message by shouting “Jesus said,’NO WAY!’ “And so can YOU!’ Hopefully, the message will be remembered by all and the students at The First Academy will use conviction and say “No Way!” when they face any type of temptation.

 K4 Pajama Day

The students in K4 enjoyed a Pajama Day last week.  They spent the day doing nighttime activities in their dark classroom.  They made s’mores, told campfire stories, read sleepy books, and had morning circle time snuggled up in sleeping bags.  It’s hard to stay awake while wearing comfy jammies!

Kindergarten Green Meadows Field Trip

Our kindergarten students were so excited to go on their first official field trip last week.  The students, teachers, and parents headed out to Green Meadows Farm.  They experienced up close and personal all sorts of animals.  Fun was had by all!
