Graham has been a student at The First Academy since kindergarten. Graham’s a senior, an honors student, a baseball player, and a family guy. His parents describe him as independent, fun-loving, and as serious about excelling academically as he is about having fun with his friends! His parents are proud of Graham for his strong faith, his desire to take initiative, his work ethic, and his ability to persevere. He tried many sports as a child, but quickly fell in love with the game of baseball.

Graham has decided to GO HYBRID with The Virtual Academy, where he will spend his mornings on campus with his classmates and his afternoons on the field, pursuing his passion, baseball. He is thankful for the opportunity and challenge of taking college preparatory courses online with TVA. He believes the hybrid program will require the same type of personal responsibility he will need in college, and it will prepare him for the type of rigor he’ll experience as a college athlete. He loves the thought of being able to use his time more efficiently to become a better all-around baseball player.

Graham’s baseball coach explains that college student athletes have a very demanding schedule of academics and athletics, and to be able to balance that is a challenge for any young athlete. The ability to begin working on those essential time management skills before starting college will be a huge advantage to Graham. He believes Graham’s hybrid schedule will be a step closer to what the future will bring for him as a serious athlete. He’s noticed Graham’s serious work ethic all summer and appreciates his ready to learn attitude. He’s been blessed by observing Graham’s growth, first class character, and leadership skills. He also says that Graham keeps the team loose with his quick witty comebacks and his infectious stream of laughter.

Graham’s teacher tells us that he is a great student, excelling in his AP courses. He explains that the overlap of AP exams and Spring baseball are uniquely challenging, but Graham has managed the schedule and expectations through multiple AP courses. He’s sure he’ll be able to use these same skills to be successful as a hybrid student.
