Over the Valentine’s Day weekend, a number of our middle school students who are part of the band program participated in the Florida Bandmasters Association District Solo and Ensemble Music Performance Assessment.
The event was held at Apopka High School on Friday and Saturday, February 12 & 13. All of the middle school students that performed at this event received a superior rating on their solo or ensemble:

MS PA Meeting

WrAP Testing
How Well Do We Write?
The Standardized Writing Assessment Program (WrAP)
(Spring 2016)

On Thursday March 3th and Friday, March 4th TFA students in grades 3-12 will participate in the Standardized Writing Assessment Program (WrAP). Students ARE permitted to utilize dictionaries and thesauruses during the 2-day writing assessment.

Materials needed for the WrAP:
a) 2 sharpened #2 pencils & 2 ink pens (blue/black)
b) Thesaurus (can be electronic)
c) Dictionary (can be electronic)
d) 4-5 pages of loose leaf notebook paper
*electronic spellers (ie: Franklin) are not permitted

Students in Grades 3-12 will be provided with 90 minutes for the standardized assessment.
-Day 1: Thinking Map and Rough Draft
-Day 2: Final Draft


MS Chapel
Our normal MS Chapel for 2/25 will be cancelled due to a conference on the First Orlando Campus.


TFA Open House
We will be hosting our 3rd Open House of the year on February 21st from 2pm-4pm. Make sure to invite your friends and neighbors. This open house is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the wonderful things that The First Academy has to offer.


Alternative Lunch
We will be having an alternative lunches on Wednesday, February 24th through Friday, February 26th. The Junior Class is offering an alternative lunch for students in grades 5-12 and faculty to purchase those days. Kindergarten through 4th grade will have separate arrangements and will need to check with their teachers for information.

Here are the options for those days.

Wednesday, February 24
Chick-fil-A Sandwich with chips & a water for $5.50. Extra Sandwich for $3.50

Thursday, February, 25
2 slices of Papa John’s cheese pizza and a water for $5.00, Extra slice for $200

Friday, February, 26
Panda Express Bowl with a water for $5.50
Side options: Fried rice, white rice, chow mein or vegetables
Main meat options: Orange Chicken, Broccoli with Beef, Teriyaki Chicken

To order, please visit to order this lunch if interested. Please submit your order by Monday, February 22nd at 3pm. You are able to order for all three days at the same time.

When you submit your order, you should receive a confirmation page. You may need to scroll back to the top if your screen goes blank. You should also receive a confirmation email within 15 minutes from Larissa Galloway confirming receipt of payment. You do have the option of ordering for multiple students. Food distribution will be in the gym lobby.

Please remember that if you don’t like this option then you are welcome to bring something from home.

8th Grade Promotion Photos
The 8th grade celebration chapel (9:30 am-10:30 am May 19th in First Orlando’s Faith Hall) is just around the corner and in preparation for the big celebration, each magnificent 8th grade student will have his/her photograph taken on Wednesday February 24th. We are requesting that students dress in a nice top/shirt of their choosing along with jeans. The students will be taking a class photo as well that day.
You will have the opportunity to purchase photos from our photographer Michelle Moreman at a later date. All photos will be taken during 8th grade bible class.
