Coffee, Principals, and a New Building- oh my! On Thursday, September 8th, The Extended Educational Programs will be hosting ‘Coffee with the Principals’ along with an Open House of our newly restored E2 building. TCS and The First Hope Families are invited to join us at 8:00am in E2-Room 215 for a presentation followed by a tour. Preschool Families are invited to join us at 9:15am in E2-Room 136 for a presentation followed by a tour. We cannot wait to welcome our families to our school family and new building!
Our resident TEEP Weatherman, Mr. Joe Fana, has been keeping us updated on the Tropical System’s Happenings. Here are some tips to ensure your family and friends are prepared in the event that the storm effects Central Florida: As always, we will ensure communication if school days are affected.

A Message from Joe Fana,  Principal of The Classical School

As we continue to evaluate our school’s Mission Statement, we will turn our attention to “Service before Self…”  The concept of serving others about your own interests and desires is a concept we instill in our students.  Our 2015-2016 Senior class averaged 175 service hours.  These hours are unpaid and in addition to any extracurricular activities for which they may participate.  Amazingly, the concept of serving others is more than a requirement; it allows them to pursue a life-long passion for giving back.  There has been no greater servant than Jesus.  In the book of Mark, chapter 10, Jesus taught his disciples that He “came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”  Let us follow Christ’s example and find those opportunities to serve others above all else.

This week’s spotlight is on new teacher Susan Gentry. Mrs. Gentry is a graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and Exercise Science.   Her Master’s degree is in Sports Administration from Georgia State University.   She earned her teaching certification through the Educator Prep Institute at Valencia College. Mrs. Gentry has been teaching and substituting in the Orlando area for the past 5 years.

Mrs. Gentry’s goal this year is to instill a love of learning and the desire to become life-long learners in the lives of our TCS students. She is the mom of Ansley, a first grader at TFA, and Mahlon, who is 19 months old. Her favorite bible verse is Philippians 4:13, “I can do everything through Christ who gives me STRENGTH.”
