A Message from Sarah Donovan, Principal of Extended Educational Programs
At next week’s The First Hope Mom’s Fellowship meeting, Patty and I are hosting a SWOT. The SWOT acronym represents Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. As Patty and I plan for next year and the future of The First Hope, it is so important to receive input, ideas, and celebrations from our families. The Mom’s Fellowship meeting is on Tuesday, November 17th at 8:00am in Cafe on the Rock. I will also be hosting a SWOT at the December TCS & TFH Parent Association meeting for TCS future planning. Family feedback is one of the most valuable pieces to supporting the future of TFA’s Extended Educational Programs. Hope to see you there!

Sarah Donovan

RECOGNITION – Emily Morrill
This is Emily’s sixth year at TCS. She teaches third grade and loves the collaboration between home and school that The Classical School fosters. Working alongside families to reach the greatest potential in their child is a great joy for Emily. One part of the school year that she loves is the Thanksgiving Feast. The student presentations are a great memory.

Outside the classroom, she enjoys reading books of all kinds and being outside with her family. They love bike rides on the West Orange Trail.

The TFA Open House was a great success for The Classical School thanks to the efforts of the administrative team.

The Giver of Good Gifts- A Devotional from PJ Wehry
James says, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” This verse seems straightforward enough. God is the unchanging source and creator of all good things. But James writes this verse to rebuke those of us who would charge God with doing evil. “When tempted, no one should say, ‘God is tempting me.’” This kind of accusatory tone and gratitude cannot coexist. God is the giver of all good gifts. We are owed nothing. Unless we look at the universe and recognize each breath, each star, each baby’s giggle as the gift that it is, we will sit in judgment of what God gives us each day. Is it good enough for me? Is this what I really wanted? When we realize each day is a gift, the only response that we can have is gratitude.

Thanksgiving Feast
On Thursday, November 19, from 11:30-1:00 PM, we will be celebrating our annual Thanksgiving Family Feast! This is a time where TCS families gather together for a Thanksgiving lunch and TCS students in grades K-5 and our Fall Choir put on a presentation.
This will be a ticketed event for the lunch portion of the Feast. You will pick up your tickets at the event registration table. Those family members who are not eating will not be required to have a ticket.

Field Trip Info
We are excited to share with you our scheduled TCS Field Trips for this school year. Please see the attached document for a description of the event. All Fall semester field trips are currently open for registration (with the exception of a couple waiting to be updated online).
