A Message from Sarah Donovan, Principal of Extended Educational Programs
As 2015 winds down, The Extended Educational Programs leadership team has been looking ahead and preparing for a strong future at TCS, The First Hope, and The ELC Preschool. We have developed five year plans that outline our strategic goals to enhance our programs to be the best in their fields. These were developed based on SWOT (strength, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analysis feedback from faculty, staff, and families. We are grateful for our program blessings and excited for many more in the years to come!
Note From Mrs. Grayson Merritt (Director/Assistant Principal)
Since August, our school family has been on a journey to a new social and emotional curriculum called Conscious Discipline. The founder, Dr. Becky Bailey, has done extensive brain research on the effects of emotions on the brain and is world renowned in her both her findings and her teachings.
Through the work of implementing this curriculum at my past preschool, as well as the enthusiasm our staff has shown in receiving Conscious Discipline, I was able to meet with Dr. Bailey and her CEO recently. They were excited to learn about this shift here at our school and graciously gifted 10 workshop tickets (value $3,000) to our staff to attend a 2-day workshop this past weekend at Disney. The workshop focused primarily on how children identify their emotions and how to effectively, through both cooperation and child led, learn to self-regulate.
Our school family was given the opportunity to meet Dr. Bailey as well (see below).
You will be hearing more about Conscious Discipline and how we are using these components in our classrooms. Our goal is by next Fall to even have a parent component including workshops. If you would be intersted in researching more for yourself, please visit www.consciousdiscipline.com
