A MESSAGE FROM SARAH DONOVAN, DIRECTOR OF THE EXTENDED EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

Every Monday morning at 7:30am you will find The First Hope team meeting outside of the elevators for a time of togetherness in reviewing the upcoming week’s events and prayer. It’s a special time together and something I look forward to every Monday morning (imagine that-looking forward to a Monday morning :). Last week, one of our teachers, Amy Moore, shared this poem in her devotional. I loved it and wanted to share it with the masses. The loving inspirational message is below.

You are who you are for a reason.
You’re part of an intricate plan.
You’re a precious and perfect unique design,
Called God’s special woman or man. You look like you look for a reason.
Our God made no mistake.
He knit you together within the womb,
You’re just what he wanted to make. The parents you had were the ones he chose,
And no matter how you may feel,
They were custom-designed with God’s plan in mind,
And they bear the Master’s seal. No, that trauma you faced was not easy.
And God wept that it hurt you so;
But it was allowed to shape your heart.
So that into his likeness you’d grow. You are who you are for a reason,
You’ve been formed by the Master’s rod.
You are who you are, beloved,
Because there is a God!

CLASS AND STUDENT SPOTLIGHT

Our students have the opportunity to participate in both speech and occupational therapy, but I think it’s safe to say that canine therapy is their favorite.  Blue, a black lab owned by the Perryman family, and Max, a terrier owned by the Foss family, frequently visit the classrooms. The exchange of hugs, pats, and smiles is a wonderful sight. What is most inspiring is the breakthrough in language witnessed in some of our nonverbal students when interacting with the dogs.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT

Christopher Delph-Para Professional

Chris was born and raised in Central Florida and has experienced first hand the ever growing community and diversity, which exemplifies the great city of Orlando. He has attended the local area schools during his formal school years, and later attended Valencia with a transfer to UCF with an emphasis in Humanities.

He has worked for a little of over four years in the local public school systems. He has experience with diverse learning styles, ages, and backgrounds. He is grateful for his first-hand experience in the classroom. He is honored for this new season with The First Hope and the ability to serve alongside the team and students.
Welcome to our school family, Chris!

PRINCIPAL’S NOTE

The other day I was going through some old papers at school and found some pictures of the first year I was here.  It was our very first year.  We had only 5 students with 4 staff. Wow, we have grown in so many ways!  We are now 43 students and 33 staff strong! It has been like watching a little seedling planted in the ground, raked, watered, and now it is blooming. We have so much more to do to help students and there is no stopping us now.  I thank the Lord each day for each of you families sacrificing and entrusting us with your children.  We are humbled and grateful that you keep choosing The First Hope.  We will continue to strive and reach your kids, push your kids, love your kids, and guide your kids each and every day.

Mark 10:27 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man, this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”
