A MESSAGE FROM SARAH DONOVAN, DIRECTOR OF THE EXTENDED EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

An anchor was designated as the new logo and symbol for The First Hope for its representation of ‘hope anchoring the soul’ from the book of Hebrews. This upcoming Saturday, February 25th from 8am-12pm, The First Hope will be hosting its first annual ‘Hope Conference’ to provide ‘anchors of hope’ to parents, educators, and community members in providing special needs resources. We would love to welcome all parents of students of all abilities to join our conference. Below is the link for vendor and registration information. Anchors away! We hope to see you there!

CLASS AND STUDENT SPOTLIGHTS

TFH Inclusion students participated with their TCS classmates in a Creative Writing Festival contest. Many wonderfully written works were reviewed and graded and only a select few were chosen to move on to the next level. Among those chosen was Treniya R., a 4th grader in Mrs. Pillow’s class, for her poem titled “Basketball”.  Treniya currently plays on the TFA Middle School basketball team. It is a sport that brings her great joy, both for the friends she has made and the skills she has learned. Anyone who knows Treniya has seen the great big smile that comes when she talks about basketball. This genuine love of the game served as the inspiration for her poem.  Treniya’s poem has been submitted to the ACSI District Creative Writing Festival. Regardless of the outcome, we could not be more proud of this young lady’s accomplishments both on and off the court. Congratulations Treniya!

PRINCIPAL’S NOTE

The First Hope is a unique program in all that is offered.  It takes a village for it to work daily.  I wanted to take time in this blog to thank the many that help us make it so amazing.  The Parent Association leaders Janie, Lindsay, and Joanna thank you for all the time you take to create emails and keep us all in the loop of the next big event.  Thank you for helping us celebrate those fun times of the year!  Thank you, Mr. Fana for all you do to help include our inclusion students in your TCS program.  You always make us smile.  Thank you, Ms. Grayson, for inviting and including our ELP students in TFA Preschool activities during the year.  We love your Conscious Discipline meetings too. Thank you, teachers, paras, and therapists for all you give each and every day.  No one truly knows how much you give except Christ when he looks down on you and smiles:)  Thank you leaders: Jennifer P, Chessie, Kelly/Shannon, Sarah for all you do “behind the scenes” to keep all the wheels turning and for all the great support.  Thank you also FBCO for providing the space for our students to learn and grow.  Lastly, thank you TFA for saying yes.  Saying yes to open a special needs program where students can be supported and also learn about Christ.
