Students participating in Genius Bar will will take part in hands on study of technology integration in an educational setting. Students are required to assess problem sets throughout the day and arrange the best approach in addressing or solving the problem. In addition to solving problems for students and teachers, Genius Bar members will be required to complete and maintain several running projects that address problems or solutions in cutting edge educational technology. The course also provides students with the opportunity to pursue an independent learning pathway in one of four areas: innovation design, entrepreneurship, and applications.
Genius Bar members are able and expected to pursue Apple Certification through their online training platform GSX (Global Service Exchange). At the end of each semester the students are able to sign up and pass the two exams needed to be Apple Certified with the cost covered by The First Academy. This training and certification can be used to market individual talents and acquired skills which can withstand the scrutiny of an interview for an internship or college admission.
In order to support teaching and learning in a 1:1 iPad environment, Genius Bar students are responsible for authoring posts and contributing to the Technology Blog. With this opportunity, students are able to exercise their creativity in writing while focusing on technical subjects such as:
