At what grade level did you start at The First Academy?
What were the reasons you or your parents chose The First Academy?
I chose TFA for the friendships I had that were here, the established athletics program, and the opportunity for a Christ-centered education in an academic environment where I knew I would be challenged.
Are you involved in extracurricular activities? If so, what are they and have you received awards in these activities? (These can be affiliated with TFA or outside of school)
Athletically, I have played varsity baseball and fall/summer travel baseball for the last three years, as well as varsity football this past fall; each one of these experiences has been awesome. Outside of sports, I am involved in my church youth group and have spent my high school summers as a camper or working at Camp Ridgecrest for Boys.
Which colleges have you applied to and which ones have you been accepted to thus far?
I’ve been accepted to Wake Forest University and will be attending in the fall. Go Deacs!
What do you plan to study in college and what are your long-term career goals?
I plan to major in biology and minor in environmental science. Career dreams include: being a physical therapist, marine biologist, or a National Park Ranger.
Have you received any college scholarships? If so, which ones? (Or, which ones are you currently nominated for)
I have not received any academic scholarships yet. However, I am currently applying for a few.
Who are some of your favorite TFA teachers, and why? These can be K4-12.
Some include Mr. Kavanagh, Mrs. Wasylik, Mrs. Oswald, Coach Oliver, and Coach Schultz.
In one sentence, what did being a student at The First Academy mean to you?
It meant making the most out of the many opportunities that TFA provided for me…from academics to athletics, to school clubs, and the House system leadership.
How has TFA made a difference in, or impacted your life?
TFA has given me teachers who have not only taught me but have helped me become the man I am today.
Do you feel that The First Academy has prepared you for life after graduation?
What is your favorite memory at TFA?
There are too many memories to choose from, but the senior retreat at SouthWind YoungLife Camp was an incredible time.
How have you grown in your walk with Christ since coming to TFA?
Mr. Kavanagh has played an immense role in my life while here at TFA. He has embodied and shown me the freedom, joy, and fun that can be found in a life pursuing a relationship with Jesus Christ.
What was one spiritual insight you gained at TFA that has impacted your life the most?
That only true life can be found in Jesus Christ!
