Bo Burgess

What is your role at TFA?

Sports Information Coordinator/MS Athletics Coordinator – I facilitate most of our external communications/media responsibilities. I also assist with all of our MS athletic programs.

Why do you choose to serve at TFA?

TFA is home to me! I graduated in 2016 after attending for 12 years and it means the world that I am able to come back and help the next generation of Royals, most importantly grow in their personal walk with the Lord, but also to learn and grow academically and personally. Middle and High school are pivotal times in a student’s life and I had people at TFA who helped me walk through those times, so the opportunity to come back and potentially be that for students is a dream to me.

What is the greatest value of our Athletics programs at TFA?

I think the greatest value of Our athletics program is the connections and bonds between students. You can have a good coach or a bad coach, be a good team or a bad team, Play a solo sport like golf or a team sport like Football, and you are having the same experience as the kids to your left and right. That builds a bond that I still share with several people to this day. It is completely invaluable.

What is your favorite memory at TFA in Athletics?

Being a part of the 2012 Regional Championship Football team. I was just a freshman on that team but being the only team in school history to win the region and go to the final four was completely uncharted waters for the whole team, not just the freshman. I have never been a part of a unit that was so fun and unified, yet equally talented and driven to be the best. We set the standard for every TFA football team to come until another group comes together and goes on a run like we did. It is a time I remember very vividly and one I will be talking about for probably the rest of my life.

Why do you choose to serve at TFA?

Serving at TFA is a blessing. The relationships that I get the opportunity to build with our students, coaches, and staff make each and every day special.

What is the greatest value of our Athletics programs at TFA?

One of our key values in athletics is to make disciples who make disciples. We view athletics as an extension of ministry. We don’t just want to play sports, but we want to impact our student-athletes who then can impact others for Jesus Christ. To me, that is the greatest value that the athletic program at TFA can provide to our students.

What is your favorite memory at TFA in Athletics?

There are so many. In my 7 years as a student, the friendships with my teammates and the teachers are the highlights. In my time on the administrative side, I think back to being on the sideline for many state championships and seeing the joy. However, my favorite memories (it is not just one) are the times where we have baptized our athletes and watched them take their stand for Christ. State Championships are special, but life change is on a whole different level!

Fun fact about you

Jessica Kenning

I serve our student-athletes as an athletic trainer and strength & conditioning coach with the goal of keeping them healthy and competitive in the sports they love.

Why do you choose to serve at TFA?

I choose to serve at TFA because this school positively shaped my life into what it is today and I wanted to give back and be a part of a community to do the same for our current students.

What is the greatest value of our Athletics programs at TFA?

Our Athletics program equips students with life lessons in teamwork and work ethic. The athletic training program is able to be the hands and feet of Jesus as we serve student-athletes and give sports medicine students opportunities for hands-on experience serving in the same way.

What is your favorite memory at TFA in Athletics?

My favorite memory at TFA is working over the summers with our teams in the weight room – it is always a fun environment and encouraging to watch them improve throughout the off-season.

Jane Knuth

What is your role at TFA?

I am the assistant athletic director in charge of administration. This is my 7th year in this role and my 23rd year at TFA. Before moving into administration, I taught physical education in all divisions at some point in my time here.

Why do you choose to serve at TFA?

I choose to serve at TFA because it has a family feel. When I started teaching here, our kids were in the 3rd and 5th grade. Watching how they were nurtured and loved by their teachers and coaches has always inspired me to do the same for families that choose to send their kids here.

What is the greatest value of our Athletics programs at TFA?

Our coaches are the greatest value to our athletic programs. I’ve served as an assistant coach on several of our sports teams and had the opportunity to work with all of our coaches in some capacity. Their passion and knowledge of their sport is incredible but what I have enjoyed watching the most, is how they pour into the lives of their athletes. I have personally experienced the joy of leading and watching student-athletes come to Christ and make a profession of faith through baptism. Wins are always the goal for any coach but when a former player invites you to their wedding or a baby shower, you know it is more than just the game. Our coaches are more than just coaches, they strive to be mentors for life.

What is your favorite memory at TFA in Athletics?

During the 2013 football season my father passed away, and I left school during the week of a game. It was one of the few football games I have ever missed here, and I will never forget the football players calling me right before the game to see how I was doing. I will never forget those kids looking beyond football and caring.
