At what grade level did you start at The First Academy?
I began at TFA in second grade.
What were the reasons you or your parents choose The First Academy?
As pastors, my parents were first and foremost looking for a great Christian environment. When they compared TFA to other Christian schools, they were impressed with the level of spiritual, academic and athletic excellence, especially given the size of the school.
Are you involved in extracurricular activities? If so, what are they and have you received awards in these activities?
I play volleyball both for The First Academy and for a travel club team. I am a two-time state champion, district player of the year, all-Central Florida team member, and recently just received the 2016 Royal Athlete award at TFA. I am also an AAU Academic All-American.
Which colleges have you applied to and which ones have you be accepted to thus far?
I am committed to Dartmouth to play volleyball. Because of the commitment, that is the only place I applied.
What do you plan to study in college and what are your long-term career goals?
At Dartmouth, I plan to study psychology. I plan to earn an advanced degree in industrial-organizational psychology and pursue a career in human resources, preferably for a professional sports team.
Who is/are your favorite TFA teacher(s), and why?
I have had so many amazing teachers at TFA, but a few stand out to me above the rest. Mrs. Combs, who I, fortunately, had as a teacher in 3rd, 5th, and 7th grade, is one of my favorite teachers because she is obviously passionate about what she does and she makes a point to personally connect with each student. Another one of my favorite teachers is Mr. Harrison, who I had my junior and senior years because he makes challenging subjects like AP Calculus easy to grasp, and he is willing to do what it takes to help his students succeed.
How has TFA made a difference in, or impacted your life?
TFA has taught me the importance of being a diligent student and a Christ-like leader. My teachers are consistently exhibiting this through their Christ-like attitudes while challenging me to be the best student and person I can be.
Do you feel that The First Academy has prepared you for life after graduation?
I feel that The First Academy has prepared me for life after graduation through the emphasis on a Christ-centered environment with high academic standards. Because of this, I feel ready to enter a college environment where I will be challenged academically and spiritually.
In one sentence, what does it mean to you to be a The First Academy alumna?
To me, being a TFA alumna means that I have received a quality Christian education that has set a strong foundation for me in the future.
