A NOTE FROM MRS. JACKSON

Are you looking for an immediate way to help those impacted by Hurricane Matthew?   First Baptist Church of Orlando is partnering with New Missions to provide blankets, pillows, and sheets to those impacted by the hurricane in Haiti.    Collections are being taken through Sunday.     If you would like to drop them at Lower School, we will deliver them to the church.    Donations are also being collected at First Baptist Church of Orlando.    New Missions will be shipping them out on Monday.

Our character trait for the month of October is Forgiveness.    As we talk about this trait throughout the month in the classroom and at chapel, we define Forgiveness as deciding that someone has wronged you doesn’t have to pay and choosing to love when you have been hurt.     The topic of forgiveness is mentioned in the Bible over 100 times.   We have opportunities each and every day to give and receive forgiveness.

Put up with one another.  Forgive one another if you are holding something against someone.  Forgive, just as the Lord forgave you.

NEW THIS WEEK

Haiti Shoebox Drive

We are excited to be kicking off our annual Haiti Shoebox Drive in partnership with New Missions.   Last year we collected over 1600 boxes to send to children in Haiti and we want to do even more this year.   We will be talking about the shoebox drive in chapel this week but you can watch a great video HERE.    Each year we collect shoeboxes filled with gifts for students in Haiti. School supplies, hygiene items, toys and other small gifts make a big difference in the lives of Haitian children and their families. You can share God’s love this Christmas by packing a shoebox.  Our goal for Lower School will be 750 shoeboxes.   Let’s work together to bless some children in Haiti this year.

“We love because He first loved us.” (I John 4:19)
Share God’s love this Christmas.

Our new 4th, 5th, and 6th grade NEHS inductees will be recognized at the TFA Varsity Football Game on Friday, October 28th.    The students will have the opportunity to come out on the field for their recognition.   Parents mark your calendars because you will not want to miss this special recognition.

Morning Dropoff-7:30AM

This is just a friendly reminder that students may be dropped off beginning at 7:30AM.  If you arrive to school prior to that time, we request that students remain with their parents until 7:30AM.  The library and the gym are open at that time.  Student supervision does not begin until that time.

AR HomeConnect

Over the summer, we had an update to our Renaissance Learning program that we use for Accelerated Reader, Accelerated Math, and STAR Testing.  Many parents like to receive email updates when their children take Accelerated Reader and Accelerated Math tests.  You can set your preferences using Renaissance Learning HomeConnect.  If you had this set up previously, you will need to complete the process again.

Library Hours

The Boyd Moline Library will be open until 3:45pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays this year.  It will close at 3:30pm on Monday and Friday and at 2:40pm on Wednesdays.
