6th Gr – Trip to Animal Kingdom
The 6th grade class made its annual trek to Disney’s Animal Kingdom last Friday. Students were tasked with earning merit badges by finding certain items throughout the park and completing a Wilderness Scavenger Hunt. It was a perfect day to learn about nature, collaborate with friends and have some fun on this special outing.
Lower School Congratulates Jackson Englund
Lower School proudly congratulates Jackson Englund, 8th grade student. Jackson has made it through an arduous, two-tiered audition process to make the Florida All-state Middle School Mixed Chorus. Jackson was among hundreds of students across the state to audition. Students had to make a high score on a written musicianship exam as well as a sight-reading test and then learn seven pieces of music. The next step was a test to sing various portions of the music and display their vocal quality. Jackson scored well in all portions of the testing to secure a place in the mixed chorus. Out of 159 tenors who auditioned, only 67 were chosen-Jackson was among that number! On January 17, the Florida All-state Middle School Chorus, under the direction of Dr. Jeffery Ames, of Belmont University, performed seven beautiful numbers. Jackson Englund represented The First Academy with talent and hard work. Mrs. Savage, Jackson’s instructor, states that this is the first TFA middle school student to make the All-state Chorus in at least a decade. Way to go, Jackson!!
