IMPORTANT MIDDLE SCHOOL EVENTS & DATES FOR MAY
Please take a moment to mark your calendars. The following are important dates that you do not want to miss as we finish the year strong.
May 22nd: 2nd Semester Student Achievement Awards/Dance
May 22nd: End of 2nd Semester, Early Dismissal 12:15pm
A NOTE FROM DR. LUCI HIGGINS
What an outstanding year of learning we have experienced! As the scholars transition into a more flexible learning environment, I want to encourage each student to continue to dream, imagine and to wonder.
“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”- Harriet Tubman
Thinks & Thoughts,
Dr. Luci Higgins
Dr. Higgins surprised her 8th grade scholars this Monday with a challenge to “fly” and to “ask for help” as they rise to become freshmen. Each scholar was reminded that their magnificent middle school faculty has their back by receiving their first freshmen t-shirt. The Upper School student leadership presented the new “House System” and each house welcomed their newest members from the Class of 2019!
2nd Semester Student Achievement Awards
Join us tomorrow Friday May 22nd as we celebrate our 2nd Semester Student Achievement Awards beginning at 9:45am in the First Orlando Student Center. Our celebration continues at 11am as our students finish the year strong by enjoying their Middle School Summer Dance. Students will be dismissed from the Student Center at 12:15pm.
Summer AR testing information
AR was turned off beginning Monday, May 18th. It will be turned back on for summer testing on Monday, June 1st. Beginning June 1st, students may come on campus to take AR tests on Monday through Friday from 9 AM – 3 PM on their iDevices (iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch) through the Accelerated Reader app. Students must be on campus and logged on to the TFA Guest wifi during the designated times in order for the AR app to work. The library will not be open for testing, but there will be iPads available in the lower school lobby for students to use if they don’t have their own device. All AR testing done during the summer will count toward the 1st quarter AR goal for the 2015-2016 school year.
The library will be closed for inventory, including before and after school, the week of May 18th-May 22nd. Thank you for your understanding!
