Parents, please take a moment to mark your calendars. The following are important dates that you do not want to miss:
It’s been an amazing first week back at TCS!
If you recall from last week’s post, I wanted to spend a few weeks discussing the elements of our School’s Mission Statement. This week, I want to focus on “Wisdom beyond scholarship…” At TCS, the idea of academic rigor and excellence in learning are at the core of who we are; however, it is not the pinnacle of what we desire of our students. Our desire is for our students to display wisdom. Merriam-Webster defines wisdom as “the natural ability to understand things that most other people cannot understand.” So where does the wisdom come from? We see in James 1 that wisdom not only comes from God, but he will also give it to us generously. Let us focus not only on high scholastic excellence, but also asking our God to give us the wisdom to use the knowledge learned for His glory.
The first day for TCS students and teachers was successful! It was so wonderful to see both old and new faces! We are looking forward to a fabulous school year.
Marie Nabors is from Tallahassee, FL. She is a graduate of Florida State University. She is joining The Classical School as the Language Arts Teacher for 6th-12th grade. She has worked in middle and high school students ministries, lived and taught English in Italy, and has been a traditional classroom teacher for 12 years. She comes to us with experience from a number of Christian schools here in the Orlando area and Tallahassee. During her time teaching, she has earned her Masters in Education Curriculum and Instruction online. She and her husband have two young daughters, Madison and Audrey . Marie shared her excitement with us about the opportunity to work at The Classical School; “I love my students like they’re my own children, and I’m here to serve. I can’t wait to get to know all the amazing students, families, faculty, and staff at The Classical School at TFA!”
There will be a meeting for all parents of TCS High School students on Thursday, August 22nd, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. We will be going over graduation requirements and preparing for college. Please mark your calendars now to join us for this important meeting!
