The Classical School Blog, Week of August 24

Parents, please take a moment to mark your calendars. The following are important dates that you do not want to miss:

A Message from Joe Fana, Principal of The Classical School

As we continue to evaluate our School’s Mission Statement, we will turn our attention to “Service before self…”  The concept of serving others about your own interests and desires is a concept we instill in our students.  Our students go above and beyond in their fulfillment of volunteer hours.  These hours are unpaid and in addition to an extracurricular activities for which them may participate.  Amazingly, the concept of serving others is more than a requirement; it allows them to pursue a life-long passion to giving back.  There has been no greater servant than Jesus.  In the book of Mark chapter 10, Jesus taught his disciples that He “came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”  Let us follow Christ’s example and find those opportunities to serve others above all else.

Sharing TCS

Condoleeza Rice, one of the great diplomats and minds of the 20th Century, was a homeschooled student. Fluent in Russian and a distinguished classical concert pianist, Ms. Rice served as the provost of Stanford University prior to her service as National Security Advisor to President George W. Bush and 66th United States Secretary of State.  Discovered to be academically talented at an early age, Ms. Rice’s mother homeschooled her in first grade to best meet her needs.

Do you have friends or families who you have shared your journey with and have a desire to have a lasting impact in their child’s life through The Classical School? We would love to have the opportunity to visit with them to share more benefits of our hybrid program. We conduct individualized tours – please encourage them to schedule one today by calling 407-206-8762.

Happy Birthday TFA!

Our students enjoyed delicious cupcakes and looked fabulous dressed up in 1980’s attire! One of the high school math classes even took a break from math to play a few popular games from the 80’s.

TCS Welcomes New Faculty and Staff

Esther Flores is joining our team here at The Classical School as our Lower School Teacher’s Aide. She recently moved to Orlando with her husband from Bell Shoals Baptist Church and Academy in Brandon, Florida, where she taught 2nd grade for the past 25 years. She and her husband, Victor, have been partners in marriage and student ministry since 1981. They have three children and three grandchildren. Victor is the new Pastor of Student Discipleship at First Orlando. Recently they co-authored a book entitled “Raise to Release, A Missional Mandate for Parents”, inviting readers to consider the implication the imagery of children as arrows, found in Psalm 127, has on parenting, world evangelism, and the glory of God.
