The Classical School Blog, Week of November 16

Parents, please take a moment to mark your calendars. The following are important dates that you do not want to miss:

A Message from Joe Fana, Principal of The Classical School

On October 20, 1864, one of our most revered Presidents, Abraham Lincoln, declared a proclamation to all Americans.  Below is an excerpt, which I believe is still valid today.

Now, therefore, I, Abraham Lincoln, President of the United States, do hereby appoint and set apart the last Thursday in November next as a day which I desire to be observed by all my fellow-citizens, wherever they may then be, as a day of thanksgiving and praise to Almighty God, the beneficent Creator and Ruler of the Universe. And I do further recommend to my fellow-citizens aforesaid that on that occasion they do reverently humble themselves in the dust and from thence offer up penitent and fervent prayers and supplications to the Great Disposer of Events for a return of the inestimable blessings of peace, union, and harmony throughout the land which it has pleased Him to assign as a dwelling place for ourselves and for our posterity throughout all generations.”

May our Lord continue to shower you with his blessings of goodness and peace this Thanksgiving.

2nd Grade

The students in Mrs. Stephens’ class learned about predictions as part of both their reading and science time. They did a candy corn experiment to find out if a candy corn would change in water and/or baking soda. Students wrote down their predictions and conclusions and were surprised with the results! And of course, they got to eat the yummy candy afterwards!

School Work on Friday, November 17

The Friday before Thanksgiving Break (November 17th) is a school day and work will be assigned this day for TCS students. Please make sure to get all assignments completed for this day! We hope everyone has a fun and safe Thanksgiving!

Spirit Wear

Thursday, November 30th is Spirit Day. Students may wear TFA shirts (Spirit shirts or Dennis uniform shirts) along with jeans. Please make sure jeans do not have holes or tears in them.

Cold Weather Policy

Our policy for coldweather dress is as follows:

School uniform and school-approved outerwear must be worn on campus at all times. During extreme cold weather, the school will notify students and parents of Spirit Wear dress. Girls may not wear sweat pants, warm ups, etc. under skirts.

Please do not assume it’s a coldweather dress day;  You will be notified by the school the evening before if you are permitted to wear Spirit Wear on a non-Spirit Wear school day.
