Message from Mrs. Sarah Donovan, Director of The Extended Educational Programs

Did you know the tradition of Homecoming started at alumni football games at universities in the 19th century? This tradition still stands strong today, and has officially arrived at TFA! We have been celebrating Homecoming week from the Preschool to the High School students with our themed dress up days. New to our Homecoming celebration this year is the first TCS Homecoming Court, King, and Queen. The King and Queen will be crowned at TCS. Please join me in praying for a fun-filled and safe Homecoming weekend for our students.

Upcoming Events

Green Meadows Farm (Thursday, October 20th)  All 2’s & 3’s classes will be going to Green Meadows Farm on Thursday, October 20th.  You and your child will be given a “hands-on” guided tour with more than 30 farm animals!  We will also get to go on a hay ride, ride a train, ride a pony, milk a cow and pick a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch.  This is such a fun day, and you and your child will have lots of special memories together!

This field trip is a special time with you and your child!  It is recommended that siblings do not attend.  We will be meeting at the school at 8:30am. You are welcome to carpool with other parents, but if you do not choose to do so, you will need to meet us at Green Meadows Farm no later than 9:00am.  Please note that if you are not able to attend, we will have a class of 2’s and 3’s that will remain at the preschool with an assistant teacher for that day.

Preschool Scholastic Book Fair (Tuesday, October 25th – Thursday, October 27th)  Come support our preschool, and help us build our preschool library while helping to grow your home library as well!  Shop our book fair during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday. All of your favorite preschool – 5th grade books will be available for purchase, and each purchase will help to benefit our preschool.  We will even have a special book signing by two of our very own preschool parents, The Copelys.  They have written an adorable children’s book about “Daring Dexter” (the family’s Yorkie dog). Join us for a chance to meet The Copelys who will have autographed copies of their book available for purchase. There will be more details to come, but please mark your calendars so that you don’t miss this fun-filled event!

Ready Set K Prep (Thursday, November 3rd in the TFA Library @ 9:15am) Calling all 3’s Parents!!  Have you been asking yourself any of the following questions?: What are my plans for next year?  How do I apply for K Prep on the main campus? What will my child be doing in K Prep?  Well, we have designed this special event catered to answer all of your questions about K Prep applications, entrance testing, curriculum, and more!  Come join us for a morning of Pre-K readiness and an introduction to TFA’s Kindergarten Preparatory (K4) program. You will have the opportunity to hear from TFA’s K4 teachers on what you can be doing at home to ensure your little one is ready for Pre-K and beyond. TFA will also provide you with the opportunity to tour a Kindergarten Preparatory Classroom.

Here are some fun activities and highlights that have been taking place in TFA’s Kindergarten Preparatory (K4) classes:

We reinforce our letter learning through hands on activities such as  play dough and food!

This week we are doing a story stretcher week and taking the whole week to read Laura Numeroff books.  Today we read If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and baked our own chocolate chip cookies.  After rest, we are going to eat them with a glass of milk, a napkin, and a straw, of course!!!  WE had a parent helper and Mrs. Kori helping to make the cookies.

Wishing you and your family a safe weekend!

Blessings!
