The Orlando Union Rescue Mission (OURM) is one of Central Florida’s largest homeless service providers. For the last 70 years, the OURM has met the immediate physical needs of our city’s homeless population, while leading them toward permanent independence built upon a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Over the next month, you’re going to hear more about The Good Friday Project, a partnership between The First Academy and First Baptist Orlando to support the rescue mission’s annual Good Friday Banquet. This year’s banquet will feature a Chapel worship experience, a delicious meal, and a foot-washing experience for more than 500 guests.

The Good Friday Project will take place on Friday, March 30th at the Orlando Union Rescue Mission’s newest facility located at 3300 West Colonial Drive in Orlando, and there are two ways that you can participate:

Foot-washing Teams:
First, we need workers to serve on foot-washing teams. These 3-person teams will demonstrate the love of Jesus for every banquet guest by washing their feet, providing a new pair of shoes, and praying for them. You can click here to sign up for a 2-hour shift to serve on Friday, March 30th.

Shoe Drive:
Second, you can donate a new pair of shoes for banquet guests (men’s, women’s, and children’s sizes are needed). To participate in the Shoe Drive, you can click here and purchase shoes online (shoes purchased online will be mailed directly to the rescue mission), or you can drop-off a new pair of shoes in the Lower, Middle, or Upper School lobby beginning March 5th.

We hope you’ll make plans to serve with us on Good Friday this year!
