The Christmas Season is a busy time at TFA. This time of year we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is a time filled with important academic milestones, athletic events, and school-wide festivities. It is also a very busy time in the Fine Arts Department, with so many of our students pouring themselves into art shows, concerts, and productions. From the visual arts to the band and choral performances, there is something for everyone to enjoy from the Fine Arts at this time of year.
Most recently, over the Thanksgiving Break, TFA’s Thespian Troupe 5165 competed at the District 5 Thespian Festival at University High School. Troupe 5165 came home with straight Superior Performance & Tech ratings for their One Act, The Giver!
Senior Mackenzie Wadsworth received Best in Show for her Makeup Design! All-Star Cast awards went to Andre Torres, Faith Woods, & Mackenzie Wadsworth for their performances in The Giver. Additionally, the students who competed in Individual Events received 8 Superiors, 4 Excellents, & 1 Good. We are so proud of these students, Mrs. Headley, Mr. Snyder, and everyone who supported this fantastic show!
Also over the break, The Marching Royals participated in the State Championships for the first time and placed in the top 20 bands in the 2A category in the state. Over the course of their season, they have also received top honors related to the percussion, color guard, music, and general effect. It was a great season for The Marching Royals.
Finally, 30 students and staff are participating in the Singing Trees performances at First Baptist Orlando this Christmas season. They are involved in every aspect of the show; including acting, singing, orchestra, and technical/ backstage crew.
The Fine Arts Department continues to grow and flourish and the future looks bright! We hope that you will join us as we celebrate the season at these upcoming Fine Arts events:
