Where Your Calling Meets Your Purpose

This is Christian Education’s Time to Shine

That’s why we’re hiring for private school jobs

Christian families are turning to schools like The First Academy in record numbers:

  • The changes that have occurred in schools have opened parents’ eyes to cultural challenges and the content their children are actually being taught.
  • Many families also want more than what traditional public schools provide, including better academics, a wholesome and safe social environment, and a faith-based perspective.
  • Plus, voucher programs — like Florida’s Step Up for Students — make it easier for families to afford private education.
  • Christian educators are making changes in their career paths, too, because they want to be free to teach, coach, and lead at schools where they can help students grow academically and spiritually.

So, if you’re considering working at a Christian school, how do you decide where to invest your time researching? We believe one of the best ways to understand what a school is about is to evaluate its mission statement — its “true north.” So, let’s start there.

Our Mission is Worth Pursuing

The First Academy is a Christ-centered, college preparatory school whose mission is to prepare children for life as Christian leaders who choose character before career, wisdom beyond scholarship, service before self, and participation as a way of life.

Christian leaders

TFA provides a college-prep academic program designed to grow and develop Christian leaders. And year after year, we have a 100% college acceptance rate.

Character before career

We teach for the heart, not just the mind. That’s why we immerse every subject, class, and activity in a Biblical worldview.

Wisdom beyond scholarship

Students work hard to gain knowledge, but we want them to understand how to apply that knowledge using Biblical discernment.

Service before self

Our desire is to cultivate an attitude and mindset that finds joy in serving others. To that end, our students learn by doing.

Participation as a way of life

TFA students and faculty aren’t passive observers. They step up and take ownership. They contribute here and in our community.

Why a private Christian school teaching job matters

At TFA it is such a blessing to have the freedom to be able to not only teach the subject areas that bring life to the students, we’re able to bring them up in a spiritual background. We’re able to pray for them.”

The TFA Approach is
Gospel-Centered and Strategic

As you can see, we’re passionate about equipping students to live out the purpose and calling Christ has for them. But good intentions will only take us so far. You need a plan, an approach, a model. Over the years, TFA’s leadership has developed and refined the Gospel-Centered School Culture Framework.

One
purpose:

To glorify God by making disciples who make disciples. This is our starting point, aligned with the Great Commission

Three
shared goals:
  1. To be a great place for students to grow in mind, body, and spirit (Lk. 2:52)
  2. To be a great place for faculty/staff to flourish in their calling (II Thess. 2:14)
  3. To be a great place for family and friends to invest their God-given resources (Prov. 21:5)
Five
aspirations for students:
  1. A Devoted Christ Follower
  2. A Committed Servant Leader
  3. A Respectful Relationship Builder
  4. A Consistently Honest Communicator
  5. A Relentlessly Hard Worker
Seven
essential characteristics of faculty and staff whom we see as Living Curriculum Influencers:
  1. Live as a Christ Follower
  2. Model the life of a Prayer Warrior
  3. Embrace the walk of a Servant Leader
  4. Be a strong Relationship Builder
  5. Bless others as a Faithful Encourager
  6. Practice being a Grateful Communicator
  7. Utilize the skills of an Engaging Instructor

Our Teachers and Staff Have the Support They Need

As you can appreciate, the Gospel-Centered School Culture Framework pushes us to aspire to excellence in all we do. This commitment to excellence extends to how we support our team.

Your orientation process starts with pre-planning sessions to ensure you have everything you need. Then, once you’re launched, you’ll have access to mentors who can help you with everything from finding your way around campus to navigating classroom dynamics.

At TFA, we balance expectations and independence. We’ll be clear about what you need to accomplish, and you’ll have a lot of freedom to chart your own path to the intended outcomes. Next, we’ll make sure you have the tools, technology, and facilities you need to do your best work. We don’t want our teachers “making it work.” And we certainly don’t want you to pay for supplies out of your pocket.

Finally, as part of our commitment to your professional development, we offer training opportunities, peer collaboration, coaching, and more. As you strive to grow, TFA supports you in that growth.

You Can Have a Ministry and a Successful Career

You may be surprised to learn that TFA pays faculty and staff at or above the local competitive market rates. That means your salary and benefits will be comparable to or even exceed industry standards.
But finances are only one aspect of the career path:

While we want you to do your best for our students, we also help you pursue a work/life balance.

At TFA, you’ll serve alongside high-caliber, like-minded peers who truly care for each other.

You’ll also discover that TFA families appreciate you, too. Parents will volunteer in your classroom, stay on top of homework, and ensure their children are prepared to learn.

Finally, TFA is a great place to work because we have a clear vision for the future. Our long-term strategic plan was developed and will be implemented by stable, trustworthy leadership.
