Second Corinthians 9:12 says: This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.

Tuesday, we hosted our yearly “Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon” to thank those who have selflessly served The First Academy this year. We value the service of our volunteers so highly because, as Scripture tells us, it is not only a service to the school but an outpouring of thanks to God for all of His blessings.

The countless hours spent before, during, and after the many TFA events do not go unnoticed. We are amazed by everyone who is in the classroom helping with centers, on the court or the field keeping stats and encouraging our athletes, backstage assisting with costume changes and set decor, and at home working to craft the perfect Teacher Appreciation Week. These things do not go unnoticed because we could not do half of the things that we do “right” at TFA without the service of our volunteers. They do not go unnoticed because these acts go above and beyond the normal day-to-day jobs or duties we all have in our busy lives. Most importantly, they do not go unnoticed because these acts of selfless service are a direct expression of our love for God.

Our volunteers are walking examples of what it means to put ourselves second and show our thanks to God first. To me, that is what we are about at The First Academy. We are about serving, loving, and thanking God with everything that we do. We are about putting the right things first, the first things first. I want to thank all of our volunteers, however they serve at the school or in their communities, for their tireless service and for remembering to put the first things first.
