This past weekend some of our own Royals celebrated time together as a family at the U.S. Naval Academy. The Class of 2020’s Kamron Summers celebrated the completion of his Plebe Summer alongside his brother and fellow Naval Midshipman Greg Summers, Class of 2017, and their mother TFA’s Director of Admissions Kristi Summers.

The Plebe program lasts approximately 7 weeks and consists of rigorous physical and mental training. It was capped off with Parents’ Weekend, which provides the opportunity for families to visit with their midshipmen and experience a taste of the traditions, academics, and atmosphere unique to the Naval Academy and historic Annapolis, such as formation and parade.

In addition to the elite training the midshipmen receive, Greg and Kamron both play basketball for the Naval Academy. While this will be Kamron’s first season as a freshman for Navy, the Class of 2022’s Greg has helped lead the team as a Guard. In his sophomore season, he started all 30 games and earned Most Improved Player for 2019-2020.

As a junior year, Greg started every game, averaged 10.2 points a game, along with overall 22 steals and 111 rebounds. The team finished 1st place in the Patriot League with a 21-1 record.

This year as a senior, Greg is returning as the top scorer. Read more on Greg’s time at TFA here.
