Alumni Spotlight: Matt Ruta
My beautiful wife, Natalie, and I have been married for eleven years now. We actually met thirteen years ago while both teaching/coaching at TFA. She was teaching Geometry and coaching Cheerleading, and I was teaching Algebra and coaching Basketball. I appreciate TFA very much for introducing me to the love of my life!
We have two awesome children. John is six and Maylee is four. They both attend Orangewood Christian School where I am currently the Dean of Students (7-9), Boys Basketball Coach, and I also teach two Math Classes at Orangewood Christian School. I have been in education for sixteen years in various roles including Dean of Students, Basketball Coach, Math Teacher, Bible Teacher, PE Teacher, and Assistant Athletics Director at both Christian and Public Schools. I have a Bachelor’s Degree from Mississippi College and a Master’s Degree from Belhaven College.
Natalie, John, Maylee, and I attend Summit Church. We have attended Summit for the last five years and love it!
The thing I appreciate the most about TFA is the relationships that I still hold dear to me today. Teachers/Coaches like Chris Mayberry, Steve Murray, and Scott Toenges have had a huge impact on my life. Also, some of my best friends today were guys I went to school with at TFA.
TFA is a great place and I feel fortunate to have gone to school there and worked there!
