Senior Spotlight: Anne Murrah
At what grade level did you start at The First Academy?
I came to The First Academy in fourth grade.
What were the reasons you or your parents chose The First Academy?
My parents wanted me to have the Christian environment mixed with my education.
Are you involved in extracurricular activities? If so, what are they and have you received awards in these activities? (These can be affiliated with TFA or outside of school)
I play on the varsity tennis team and I received the coaches award. I am the yearbook editor and chief, and I am the house president for Athanasius.
Which colleges have you applied to and which ones have you be accepted to thus far? (Please include if you have made a decision to attend a certain college next year)
I have applied to Auburn, Southern Methodist University, University of Florida, and Duke University. The only schools I have heard back from are Auburn and SMU, and I was accepted to both.
What do you plan to study in college and what are your long-term career goals?
I plan to pursue a pre-health track in my undergraduate and go on to medical school to become a doctor or physicians assistant. However, I also love animals so I am also considering being a veterinarian.
Have you received any college scholarships? If so, which ones? (Or, which ones are you currently nominated for)
Yes, I received the distinguished scholarship from SMU. I also received a scholarship from Auburn.
Who is/are your favorite TFA teacher(s), and why? (Teachers can be K4-12)
I actually have loved all of my teachers at The First Academy. This year, in particular, I have my favorite group of teachers I have had. They incorporate humor and life skills into class making it interesting.
How has TFA made a difference in, or impacted your life?
TFA has provided me with every opportunity to learn and grow my faith. From chapel every week to teachers caring about me and loving me. Also, they have given me a platform to be careful with my choices by holding me accountable.
How do you feel that The First Academy has prepared you for life after graduation?
TFA has taught me how to study and prepare for college. They have helped me to be confident in my faith, learning how to share and defend my faith with others.
