At what grade level did you start at The First Academy?

Kindergarten

 

What were the reasons you or your parents chose The First Academy?

My parents thought it was important to find a Christian-oriented education for me.

 

Are you involved in extracurricular activities? If so, what are they and have you received awards in these activities? (These can be affiliated with TFA or outside of school)

President, Founder, and CEO of World Care Charitable Foundation (WCCF), a nonprofit organization with the purpose of supporting causes of current concerns worldwide. Teacher and organizer of computer classes in local underrepresented communities (eg.Templo Biblico Bautista de Winter Garden and Horizon West Community Church) for my “Opening Windows to the Underrepresented” initiative through my non-profit WCCF. I am currently exploring ways to expand and mobilize the program. Student of MIT Online Science, Technology, and Engineering, Community (MOSTEC). I did a Spring Internship at Eprentise, LLC 2017. I am a Programmer for FIRST Robotics Competition Team 5816, GRA-V and do fencing and training with Winter Garden Fencing Academy (Club Team). I am an AP Scholar with Distinction, a National Hispanic Recognition Scholar, and am on the Head of School’s List. I am in the National Honor Society. I am President of STEM Club at The First Academy, where I am currently teaching what I learned in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science project course at MOSTEC to other interested students who would otherwise not have the opportunity to be introduced to these concepts until later in college. The idea of STEM Club at my school is to get students excited for the sciences and beyond. I am the President and Founder of Research Team at The First Academy and President and Founder of Robotics Team at The First Academy.

 

Which colleges have you applied to and which ones have you be accepted to thus far? (Please include if you have made a decision to attend a certain college next year)

I applied early to MIT and was accepted and will be attending. I  also applied with regular admission to Harvard and Rice.

 

What do you plan to study in college and what are your long-term career goals?

Electrical engineering and computer science (course 6 at MIT) and start a business directed towards applied research.

 

Who is/are your favorite TFA teacher(s), and why? (Teachers can be K4-12)

There are so many who have impacted me. I would have to say my favorites are Mr. Harrison, Mrs. Wasylik, Ms. Pierre-Louis, Mr. Harvey, Ms. De La Fe, Mr. Underwood, Mrs. Requejo, Mr. Rossmeisel, Ms. Duresky, Mrs. Collins, and Mr. Kowars.

 

How has TFA made a difference in, or impacted your life?

It has made me a more tolerant individual who is able to understand many different viewpoints. Without being at TFA, I wouldn’t have been able to found so many successful clubs and make such great friends.

 

How do you feel that The First Academy has prepared you for life after graduation?

TFA has made me more charismatic and the teachers who have invested in me have prepared me for all of the challenges that MIT will offer.

 

What does it mean to you to be a The First Academy alumni?

It is important to be a TFA alumnus. I look forward to coming back and reconnecting with my classmates in the years to come.
