Senior Spotlight: Savannah Gill

What grade level did you start at The First Academy?

Kindergarten

What were the reasons you or your parents chose The First Academy?

I am a 2nd Generation TFA student!

Are you involved in extracurricular activities? If so, what are they and have you received awards in these activities? (These can be affiliated with TFA or outside of school)

I have been involved in Soccer, Band, Art, and House Leadership.

Which colleges are you planning to apply to or have you applied to thus far?

I applied to FSU, Samford, PBA, Berry, Mercer, Baylor, Butler, and Arcadia.

What do you plan to study in college and what are your long-term career goals?

I’m planning to study Nursing.

Who are some of your favorite TFA teachers, and why? These can be K4-12.

I have loved many teachers including Dr. Toenges, Mrs. Requejo, and Mrs. Buck.

In one sentence, what did being a student at The First Academy mean to you?

Being a student at TFA allows me to grow spiritually, academically, and mentally in an environment where the faculty genuinely has a heart for what they do.

How has TFA made a difference in, or impacted your life?

I’ve grown up at TFA, so in all of my life’s highs and lows, I have always had a community and family to support and love me through it all.

Do you feel that The First Academy has prepared you for life after graduation?

TFA has set up a Biblical foundation which will greatly prepare me for college, especially at a huge state school.

What is your favorite memory at TFA?

My favorite memory at TFA was our senior retreat at Southwind.

How have you grown in your walk with Christ since coming to TFA?

TFA not only encourages my walk with Christ but equips me with the tools to do so.

What was one spiritual insight you gained at TFA that has impacted your life the most?

One spiritual insight I gained at TFA was that even though I grew up in a community where I am surrounded by believers, there will be times where I am the only representative of Christ somebody will ever meet. This has encouraged me to show the love of Christ through my words and actions regardless of where I am or who I’m around.

What does the school year theme, “Stronger Together,” mean to you and how have you incorporated in your day to day life this year?

Stronger Together means putting your differences and comfort aside in order to meet and love people who you might not have previously known. I’ve incorporated this a lot through my relationships by stepping out of my comfort zone to meet new people.
