The First Academy will open its new Baseball facility on Tuesday, February 22nd as the Royals begin their state title defense in their season opener at 7:00pm against Citrus League Rivals, The Windermere Prep Lakers. Tickets for the game will be available at the gate on the evening of the event.

The new state-of-the-art facility, which includes new Musco LED Field Lights, Fencing, Club House, and Turf Field, was completed during the offseason and promises to be a premier High School baseball facility in Central Florida.

Construction was completed by general contractors, Advanced Sports Group (ASG). The turf is Shaw Sports Turf TruHop in the infield and the Legion turf in the outfield, which is modeled after the Shaw surfaces placed in Major League Baseball.

“I am beyond thrilled for our kids to be able to have access to a facility like this,” says Head Coach Scott Grove. “As a coach, it’s exciting to be able to use this as a teaching tool, as a place to foster relationships with my players, as well as pursue excellence on the field. I couldn’t be more thankful and excited.”

“This process came together quickly, but thoughtfully. I am thankful to our School Board Chair, Mr. Clark Keator, and Head of School, Dr. Steve Whitaker for their leadership throughout,” says Director of Athletics Mr. Will Cohen. “I am grateful to our donors who funded this project. Not only for their financial gospel generosity but for their time and effort as every detail was meticulously addressed. Many baseball memories will be made in the days and years ahead on this field. Most importantly though, I look forward to the relationships that will be formed which will last far beyond each student’s time here at TFA. The best is yet to come!”

In honor of the first baseball game on the new field, all TFA students are welcome to wear their favorite sports jerseys to school on February 22 as we prepare for a special evening at the Payne Stewart Athletic Complex.
