Message from Sarah Donovan, Director of The Extended Educational Programs
We welcome the 2016-2017 school year with joy! We will soon be coming together in a brand new, restored E2 building. The blessing and beauty of this new space are beyond words and we cannot wait to share it with all of you!
“In God We Trust” Phil. 3:20: This verse encompasses our school year theme. Trust is a powerful word that we lay at the feet of our Lord. Thank you also for trusting us with your child’s heart, mind, and spirit. We are honored to walk alongside you on this journey.
Message from Mrs. Grayson Merritt, Principal
We are so excited to welcome you back to school! The summer sure did fly by, but I pray you had a wonderful summer and created amazing memories with your sweet family.
Last week, all of the preschool staff spent three days together getting ready for an incredible year. We spent two days in sessions learning about Dr. Becky Bailey’s Conscious Discipline and how to implement various structures into our classrooms including: greetings, breathing & regulation, safe place, and the importance of picture schedules. Each one of these structures not only helps a child to achieve their optimal brain state, but also helps achieve the goal of each child feeling safe and loved. We are so excited for you to begin to see the difference, both in your child’s classroom and also in your children, as we continue on our path of implementing Conscious Discipline. We look forward to offering all of you some parent workshops throughout the year so that you may have the opportunity to learn about parenting a connected and cooperative child.
Thank you so much for such an incredible turnout at our “Meet the Teacher” event last Friday. It was pretty quiet and lonely around here last week without any friends in our preschool, and we are so excited to have classrooms full of sweet voices again! The teachers have done a wonderful job getting our “temporary” space ready for the first day of school, and we hope to have an update soon as to when the official date will be for our move over to the newly restored E2 building! It is such an exciting time here at the preschool. We are so thankful to First Baptist and to The First Academy for their tireless efforts in creating such a beautiful new space for us to house our preschool.
The First Academy’s theme this year is, “In God We Trust”. This theme, as we face such a crazy and, dare I say, scary time in this world, is such a bold reminder that God continues to keep us in the palm of His hand. We are confident that He will carry us, direct our path, and continue to bless us every step of the way throughout this next school year.
Wishing you a blessed week!
Mrs. Grayson Merritt
